About Me
My name is Rylee Newman, and I am a sophomore at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I am pursuing both advertising and public relations and sports media and communications degrees with a minor in hospitality, restaurant and tourism management. I am on pace to graduate by May of 2028, and I would love to pursue a career in public relations.
I currently work as a news reporter for the Daily Nebraskan, where I cover the Nebraska legislature and other events around campus. Additionally, I am a communications work-study at the Military and Veteran Success Center, where I work on digital content for their website and social media platforms. I am also a member of the Independence Pyro Company, where I love putting on firework displays for private and Fourth of July events.
I am looking forward to utilizing my skill sets from these different roles in the public relations industry, and I hope to grow along the way!
Career Goals
I would love to work in entertainment, sports, or politics. In entertainment, I would love to work on advertising campaigns for movies or television shows or work in event marketing. If I work in sports, my goal would be to work with a professional team and handle social media for them. One of my biggest aspirations would also be to work on a presidential campaign, doing PR work. In order to achieve these goals, I would love to find an internship next summer in order to get experience in one of these areas.
